The North Dakota State Council on Developmental Disabilities (NDSCDD) is recruiting nominees for a consumer position on the Council. The Council’s membership must be representative of the state, to include: geographical and ethnic representation. This requirement ensures that the Council is able to hear concerns from individuals across North Dakota and from various backgrounds. The intent is for the position to be filled by July 1, 2015.

Council members are appointed by Governor; by law, more than 60 percent of a Council’s membership must consist of individuals with developmental disabilities or their family members. Advocates and state agency representatives also serve as members. This diversity enables Councils to better analyze and improve systems and services within a state and ensure that the voices of people with developmental disabilities and their families are heard.

Appointment to Council membership provides an opportunity to work with policymakers, state agencies, service providers and consumers in developing strategies to enhance the independence, productivity and community inclusion of persons with developmental disabilities. Please forward this information on to individuals who may be interested in being consider for a position on the Council.
