Advancing Students Toward Education and Employment Program
ASTEP offers two academic pathways that encompass classroom inclusion, employment skill-building and self-determination. Both pathways are comprised of classes related to career development, personal growth, college study skills and electives based on personal interests.
ASTEP students work with the Academic Coordinator to develop a plan of study to help them be successful in college as well as to learn more about their long-term professional goals. ASTEP connects students to various academic supports such as academic advisors, peer supports and on-campus services which include advising, tutoring and mentoring.
ASTEP students complete inclusive core and elective courses based on employment goals, an employment internship, independent living and self-determination activities and opportunities for social engagement. Upon completion of the two-year program with ASTEP, students will receive a College to Career Certificate and there are subsequent opportunities to attain MSU/DCB Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree and diploma programs.
