Dr. Brent A. Askvig

Dr. Askvig is the Executive Director of NDCPD and is a professor of special education at Minot State University. He has been with NDCPD since its inception in 1990, serving as Coordinator of Outreach and Training, Research Coordinator, Associate Director for State Project Development, and Associate Director of Development. Dr. Askvig has been the lead author and principal investigator on numerous state and federal grant and contracts totaling nearly $20 million.

 Dr. Askvig was a public school teacher for youth with significant, multiple disabilities, an early interventionist and administrator in a rural, home-based early intervention program, and a residential direct service provider for adults with developmental disabilities who transitioned from the state institution.

He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Idaho with specializations in special education and educational research. He also has a Master of Science in Special Education from Minot State University with an emphasis in Severe Multiple Handicaps and a Bachelor of Science in Education with majors in elementary education and mental retardation.
