GRIT’s Community Assessment Online

Part II: Develop a Community Profile

This online assessment is designed to help YOUR community or agency consider the feasibility of operating a voucher system for transportation. Before using this tool, we recommend completing the CAO Part I: Learn  About Voucher Systems to develop a basic understanding of voucher systems. Once you do, the questions in this section will make more sense.  Use the GRIT Community Assessment Planning Worksheet to gather the information you'll need before beginning the online community assessment.

Part II:  Develop a Community Profile uses a CAO computer program to ask you a series of questions. Based on YOUR responses, the CAO program will make a recommendation about the feasibility of your community becoming a GRIT voucher site. As you proceed through the questions, the CAO program will begin to respond to your answers. You can try different responses to consider "what would happen if. . ." We encourage you to back up to a previous question and try a different response to get a different answer.

Your possible answer:
The GRIT CAO may respond by:
o    Yes

o    No

o    I don't know

o     Multiple choice
Asking another question
Giving a No recommendation
Giving a Yes recommendation
Asking you to gather more data
Giving you information about voucher systems

Remember the CAO program can only offer a recommendation. You know your agency or community best and will make the final decision about whether to go ahead and use a voucher system.

Important!
Don't use the "back arrow" on your browser to return to a previous question! If you want to go back, use the Back to Previous Question link that will appear on the right side of the screen.

The CAO program has other nifty features. In the menu on the right you may access Consultation Information. As you proceed through the assessment, the CAO will keep a running list of the questions you have looked at and the answers you selected. This list will include any responses from the CAO program. You can print out a copy at any time by clicking on Show My Consultation Information.

If your combination of responses does not please you, simply start a new assessment and try a different combination of questions. Also, when the CAO program asks you to gather data, it will list questions with a link to an explanation of why you need the data.

This web page and the CAO computer program are best viewed using Internet Explorer.

Should you need more information or have questions about the system, contact Ms. Cathy Haarstad, GRIT Project Director at 1-800-233-1737.
