GRIT’s Community Assessment Online

Welcome to Grit’s Community Assessment Online!

This tool will help your agency to assess its ability to manage a voucher system
A voucher system assists people living in rural communities to obtain and pay for transportation. A person with a disability is issued a voucher (paper check or ticket) by a voucher site. The consumer finds a driver with a vehicle to give him or her a ride. The individual pays the driver with the voucher. The driver sends the voucher to a voucher site along with documentation.  The driver is reimbursed by the voucher site at an agreed-upon rate. The  site is reimbursed by one or more funding agencies.  Any appropriate organization may become a GRIT voucher site.
Begin with Part One (click on the box below) to get background information and make informed decisions about voucher systems.

Part One:  Learn About Voucher Systems

Go on to Part Two to obtain an assessment profile for your specific agency or community. You may need to gather some information before you can complete Part Two. The program will advise you as to what information is needed and why.

Part Two: Develop an Agency or Community Profile

Remember: This site cannot answer all of the questions you may have about every set of circumstances. The program will advise you about information or data that you may need to gather to complete the assessment and make an informed decision.

Preparation of this program was supported, in part, by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education (H324M000086) and a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (90DN019901)
