Development
Recognizes own printed name
Begins to copy first name
Follows 3-step directions
Participates in group game
Draws recognizable person
Dresses independently
Walks backwards, runs and gallops
Speaks fluently and correctly
Cut out simple shapes with scissors

Nutrition
Plain and simple foods preferred
Daily diet should consist of the basic 5 food groups:
1) bread/grains  2) fruits  3) vegetables  4) meats
5) milk/cheese - use the food pyramid
Trust child to eat - appetites vary day-to-day
Teach child to make good food choices

Safety
Supervise all swimming and water play
Always use seat belts
Teach child "stop, drop, roll" for fire safety
Never leave child home alone

Discipline
Prepare child for school
Child needs 9-10 hours of sleep - you may need
to change schedules
Let child visit school and talk about what it will be
like...meeting new friends and learning new things
A positive attitude about school is important
"Time out" not to exceed 5 minutes
