Imitates sounds (mama, dada)
Sits alone
Creeps/crawls
Responds to name
Finds toy when hidden
Looks at pictures in a book
Turns head towards sounds

Nutrition
Encourage to feed self (messes will happen)
Give finger foods - offer small amounts
Cut table food in tiny pieces - watch for mouth stuffing
Never put to bed with bottle
Start decreasing breast or bottle feedings as baby
eats more food

Safety
Home should be completely child proof
Secure child in high chair
Check bath water temperature by placing elbow in water
Have emergency numbers by telephone
Caution:  no hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, hard candy, etc.

Discipline
Be consistent at bedtime
Security blankets are okay
Naps are important
Praise good behavior
