Benefits

The US Government offers benefits to persons with disabilities to provide for a variety of needs.  Most  but not all programs have income eligibility requirements. To find out if you or your child is eligible for services in these North Dakota programs, families can access any of these resources:

  • Government Benefits - A new web page in which a person can check on all benefits that he or she may be able to receive in three easy steps. The site currently offers information on about 55 programs. More programs will be added  to the site in the future.
  • Medicaid- A program to extend medical care and services to people whose resources are limited. Medicaid is also used to fund many family supports under ND's Home and Community Based Waiver. These may be available to families regardless of income.
  • Supplimental Security Income - A program designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people, who have little or no income, by providing cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter. Children may be eligible. In North Dakota, call 1-800-772-1213 to apply or find out about eligibility.
  • TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) - A program available through county social services.
  • Veterans Benefits  - The US Administration of Veterans provides some specific disability coverage. Type "Veterans" in the search box to obtain more information.
