Education
North Dakota offers resources
for:
Students
Special
Education - ND Schools are required to provide a free and appropriate
public education to eligible students, including related services which
may include therapy, assistive technology or other supports. Check out
this web site for specific guidelines, or contact your local school district.
Youth
Leadership - ND provides transition services that include unique funding
mechanisms for transition programs for students ages 18-21 and a transition
camp.
Parents
FEET Teams -
ND has designed Family Educator Enhancement Teams to build
family capacity using IDEA funds. ND special education units often pay
for parents to attend special workshops. To learn more about a FEET team,
check the Special
Education Directory to locate the unit nearest to you (keep scrolling
down to find information on this web site).
Advisory Committees - ND has
a Special Education advisory board called the Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (IDEA) board. To learn more about it, check with the ND
Department of Public Instruction. In addition, some local special
education units have advisory boards as well. Use the FEET team
link above to check for the unit nearest to you.
