N2K is a short way of saying "Need to Know".

This site lists supports for families raising children with a developmental delay, disability or chronic health condition. You can get on the web and find national resources. It is a little harder to find resources in North Dakota.  To do that you have to know:

What a program/service is called?
Who provides the program or service?
Who you should call or talk to?
Where to go for answers?

Discovering the answers to these questions takes a lot of time and energy.  We have tried to simplify the steps to finding out what you need to know by creating a road map of North Dakota.

We have found the phone numbers, web sites and departments for you to the extent possible. This site has links to national programs when a similar site is not available in our state. Information available at this site includes:

  • In the Beginning - Supports for families who have just learned of a disability, delay or condition
  • Life Goes On - Supports for families as their child grows
  • Crossroads/Transitions - Information about school transitions including graduation
  • Staying Healthy - Information about health care services for children with disabilities
  • Meeting Expenses - Information about accessing benefits or paying bills
  • Getting An Education - Information about planning and securing special education services
  • Building A Life - Support for recreation, special needs and community services
  • System Change - Information and training about knowing and changing the system
This site was made possible through a Federal grant provided by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities and originally developed by staff at the North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities.
